Starting the Moving Stories™ Journey

This workshop provides the background needed to begin using Moving Stories™. It is a requirement for Moving Storyteller certification and a pre-requisite for the other video courses.

This introductory course is where the Moving Stories™ journey begins. The video invites you into Dr. Duffy’s Moving Stories™office for a conversation with some of her students and an observation of the method in action. Once taking this course you are encouraged to continue your journey with your own experience with Moving Stories™, and by joining our weekly Moving Stories™ conversations.  

Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn the benefits of integrating story, sandtray/symbols and play for supporting individuals and groups in finding their voice, processing feelings and hearing the feelings of others.
  2. Participants will learn to use the 9 steps in the Moving Stories™ method.

  • 3 hour video
  • Swimming Eagle Moving Stories™ Kit (Includes story cards, objects & sandtray)
  • Moving Stories™ Method Book
  • 3-month Membership to Moving Stories™ Conversations for weekly zoom meetings to provide support and build skills

Participants will:  

  1. Acquire the history of Moving Stories™ and the Wonder Room.
  2. Witness the power of story, play, sand, and symbols.  
  3. Recognize who may benefit from Moving Stories™.  
  4. Observe the Moving Stories™ method firsthand, which includes preparing for a Moving Stories™ session, learning to connect and flexibly tell the story, deeply listening to the stories and creations of participants, and providing a supportive closing experience.
  5. Explore next steps for learning, story resources, and Moving Stories™ supplies.
